Be a part of the yoga teacher training that will help you become an extraordinary teacher and live a healthier, more conscious life! WHY's 200 hour teacher training is a unique experience designed to guide you in becoming a dynamic, passionate, intuitive teacher. Encompassing a variety of yogic traditions, this training will include both daily meditation and challenging asana practices.

Strengthen your intuition, learn to read and feel the energy of others, give intelligent and effective adjustments, and support your students' spiritual growth. Develop healthier eating practices using food to create a strong body and clear mind. Practice living and teaching from a space of compassion and integrity while establishing a strong foundation in intelligent vinyasa flow practice. WHY's experiential Teacher Training will transform your practice and your teaching, and support you in living a healthier, more conscious life.

What is WHY Power Yoga?
WHY Power is a style of yoga created by Barbara Ruzansky, integrating her 25 years experience with many styles of yoga. These include Ashtanga, Vinyasa Flow, Forrest Yoga, Kripalu, and Bikram Yoga. WHY Power, a thoughtful and precise vinyasa style practice, speaks to all body types and all levels of practice. It challenges body and mind, builds core power, brings energy to the legs, ignites internal heat, promotes a cleansing sweat, and offers the opportunity for deep healing and release. WHY Power is spiritually nourishing, and carefully respects your physical and emotional limitations while gently guiding you to your edges.

What will I learn?
You will learn how to be an extraordinary yoga instructor while exploring your edges. Expand your ability to be present both on and off the mat. Discover how to break free from inhibitions and to speak with authenticity and passion, allowing your unique personality to flourish in class. You will learn how to teach WHY Power, integrate a variety of yogic styles, and trust your own voice. You will be taught how to modify postures for specific injuries and sequence postures for both beginners and intermediate students. This unique training emphasizes holistic principles and practices to help develop your intuition, empathy, and compassion. Ethics, philosophy, pranayama, meditation, and nutritional awareness are integral parts of our work together.





Philosophy, Meditation & Pranayama
Joining our faculty are senior teachers, Jude Russell and Nykki Poole, and long time yogis, Dr. Peter Meadow and Shankara Newton. They will contribute their expertise in the areas of yogic philosophy, meditation and pranayama. These sections of the training will be experiential and interactive investigations of enlightenment, yogic ethics (dharma), and personal growth.



The Business Aspect
Becoming a successful yoga instructor is more than simply learning how to teach. You must also learn how to attract students and run your own business—either as an independent contractor or a studio owner. This portion of the training will draw on Barbara's twenty-five years of experience as a teacher and entrepreneur, running one of the most successful studios in New England.



Functional Anatomy for Yoga Teachers
This three-day anatomy intensive with nationally renowned teacher Ellen Heed is highly experiential, with an emphasis on sharpening each teacher's perceptual skills to better assess the needs of their students in the environment of a yoga class. This class satisfies the 20-hour anatomy requirement for the National Yoga Alliance 200-hour certification, which must be taken at WHY.

  • Any aspiring teacher who would like to complete a 200 hour certified teacher training.
  • Students who would like to deepen their practice.
  • People on a spiritual path who wish to immerse themselves more deeply in yoga practice and holistic living.
  • Individuals who have completed a 200 hour teacher training and would like to expand their teaching and intuitive skills and embark on a holistic journey.

No specific prior yoga training is required; however, we suggest a minimum of 6 months committed practice prior to our training.

Requirements for Certification
(Must be completed by Dec 31st of the year after training completed  - 18 months after the final WHY Power Teacher Training weekend)

  • 100% attendance at 6 Weekend Modules led by Barbara Ruzansky
  • Attendance at the following workshops: Meditation with Sharon Salzberg, and Pranayama with Shankara Newton
  • Anatomy Workshop, minimum 20 hours. Must be taken at WHY
  • Completion of independent study materials
  • In order to obtain certification full participation and attendance at all components of the WHY Power Yoga Teacher Training is required.
  • Certification may be jeopardized by tardiness and/or early departures.


Cost
Tuition includes the six weekend modules and the Pranayama workshop. 6.35% CT sales tax will be added to all tuition costs. Tuition options are outlined below:

Pay-In-Full Option:
$2,895 if paid in full by January 12, 2018

Payment Plan Option:
$3295 with a $1,500 total non-refundable deposit due by January 12, 2018
6 payments of $299.17 per month from 2/15/18 - 7/15/18
**a valid credit card must be provided for automatic payment processing and a payment agreement must be signed.

Tuition does not include the cost of the anatomy workshop, Sharon Salzberg meditation workshop, or independent study materials. An estimate of these expenses is:

  • Anatomy Workshop $350 + $25 materials fee
  • Independent Study Materials $50 to $200
  • Sharon Salzberg Workshop $30

A $500 non-refundable deposit is required along with a completed typed application and recent photo (PDF format) to reserve a space in the 2018 training. With your commitment to the WHY Power Teacher Training you are making an investment in becoming an exceptional yoga teacher, and in changing the quality of your life.

Limited financial aid / scholarships may be available to cover a portion of the teacher training tuition. Commited applicants (application and depost submitted) may complete the Scholarship Application to be considered for any available funds, disbursed on an as-available basis in the order that applications are received.

A limited number of spaces in the six weekend modules will be available to teachers who have completed a 200-hour teacher training, or those wishing to deepen their practice. All six modules must be taken together, we cannot split them up. Application for eligibility is required. Cost for the 6 weekend modules is $2,450.



Dates
Training will consist of daily meditation and a strong asana practice, followed by an exploration of the principles of WHY Power Yoga, including: practice teaching, adjusting, teaching to multiple levels, sequencing, working with injuries, and nutritional guidance.

Cancellation Policy
A refund will be issued for cancellations made prior to January 12, 2018 for tuition paid less the $500 non-refundable deposit. No refunds or credits are available after January 12th. Please understand our cancellation policy is firm and we will not make exceptions.
