In-Studio Classes

+ What is the cost?

You may drop-in (single class fee), use a WHY class card, or become a WHY Core member to attend In-Studio classes. Visit our Pricing page for more details.

+ Are the classes heated?

Power and Hot classes are heated, while maintaining a safe, well-ventilated environment. Gentle and All Levels classes are at room temperature.

+ Are props available?

Studio-provided blocks, blankets, bolsters and straps are available. Please bring your own yoga mat.

+ What is the cell phone policy?

Please leave your cell phone outside the studio, and ensure that any associated watches or fitness bands are silenced: no sound, no vibrate. If you are on call, you can leave your phone with staff and we can alert you. Absolutely no texting, email, selfies, videos, or social media use during class; you will be asked to leave.

+ Do you have parking?

We have a large parking lot located behind and to the left of the building. Please enter only on the right side of the building and exit only on the left side (one-way access), and park head-in.

Kindly reserve the staff parking in the front of the building for our valued instructors. Please do not park on the street or in our neighbors' lots unless instructed by a parking attendant.

+ Do I need to pre-register?

Popular classes may fill up. To ensure your spot, please pre-register for class on our website or by using the MINDBODY app. Walk-ins welcomed on a space-available basis.

+ What if I arrive late?

Late arrivals are asked to wait until meditation ends and the instructor or staff signal you to enter. Please enter quietly in order not to disrupt those already practicing.

+ What is the cancellation policy?

In case of late cancellation or absence from regular classes, we will return any class credits or fees to your account. Workshops and series are non-refundable unless cancelled at least 24 hours prior to the start time - in which case studio credit will be issued.

+ Is membership required?

Membership is not required. You may access any of our classes using class cards or single class fees. Registration on our website/MINDBODY app is required to pre-register for classes, or attend an online class. We offer several membership options to provide unlimited access to online and/or in-studio classes.

+ Can I drop-in to a class?

Yes, drop-ins are welcome on a space-available basis.

+ Is there an age restriction?

Our classes are open to those 18 and up. Age 16 and up are welcome when accompanied in class by a parent or guardian. Our WHY Kids classes are designed for ages 4-10.

While we do not presently offer classes for Teens or Tweens, you might check your local school system, Parks & Recs Department, or Adult Ed which often offer classes targeted to these groups.

We cannot permit minor children to wait unattended in the lobby while a parent or guardian practices.

+ Are there showers?

We have showers available in all of our restrooms.

+ Are there Gender-Neutral restrooms?

We have a single stall restroom available for All Genders.

+ Are there changing areas?

Yes, we have several curtained areas available to change.

+ Will I be on video?

Many of our in-studio classes are live-streamed. Please ask staff or your instructor where to set up your mat to be outside of the camera range.

Livestream and Virtual Interactive (Zoom) Classes
Our Livestream classes are virtual versions of our in-studio classes. Take your favorite in-studio class at home, practicing along with your WHY community

Our Virtual Interactive (Zoom) classes are offered solely for those practicing at home. You can practice along with other virtual classmates, with personalized cueing and adjustments provided by the instructor

+ Do I need to register?

Yes, you will need a link (sent via email) to attend the class. Class links will be sent out automatically 48 hours prior to the class start time in a separate email from West Hartford Yoga (no-reply@apiant.com). Please check your SPAM / JUNK folders for mis-directed emails, you may want to add no-reply@apiant.com to your contacts to ensure you receive the emails.

+ What if I do not receive or cannot find the link?

Please call the studio at 860-953-9642. Staff will be there to support the classes and can send out an alternate link. Email requests for links are often not received in time to get you into class.

+ Can the instructor see me?

Yes, our instructor will have access to your video feed if you choose to share it. Livestream instructors are primarily working with the In-Studio students, Virtual Interactive instructors are teaching only to those online.

+ Can the instructor hear me?

You will be muted when you join the class. Please do not unmute unless invited by the instructor, as it may disrupt the class. If you have technical issues, please alert the instructor or WHY Staff using the Zoom chat feature.

+ Why are some classes in-studio only?

Most classes in Studio A (where we have a four-camera video set-up) are livestreamed. Most classes in Studio B (a limited single camera set-up) are not.

Additionally, some instructors would prefer not to livestream, or their teaching styles are not well suited to hybrid classes (both in-studio & online) so we do not livestream these classes.

It is our goal to livestream as many in-studio classes as possible.

+ What is the cost?

Our Virtual classes are less expensive than studio classes (see Pricing page). In-Studio class cards or credits may also be used. Our WHY Virtual and WHY Core Members can attend Virtual classes at no additional cost.

+ What if I am unable to attend class?

If you are unable to attend, we will cancel your Livestream registration with no penalty or fee.

+ Why can't I find or register for livestream classes via the Mind Body app?

Mind Body is not able to offer or register livestream or zoom classes via their app at this time, due to Apple policies. You can continue to register for online classes via the Android app or via our website. We hope that this changes in the near future.

Recorded Classes

+ How many classes are available online?

We have over 300 recorded classes available online.

+ Are all livestreamed classes recorded?

No, we only record occasionally when the quality of the recorded class (audio, video, content) is worth saving, processing, and posting.

+ What type of classes are available online?

We have WHY Power, All Levels, Gentle Yoga, Yin Yoga, Sweat & Surrender, and Slow Flow classes. We're committed to adding new content on an ongoing basis.

+ What instructors are available?

Most WHY instructors have recorded classes available. The number of recorded classes per instructor depends on how often they were able to record classes, and how well their teaching style translates to a recorded format.

Instructors who are no longer teaching at the studio may have classes in the archives, available only to WHY Core, WHY Virtual, and WHY Video Library subscribers.

+ How do I access recorded classes?

Recorded classes are available on the Vimeo streaming site. A sampling of classes (along with other WHY videos) is available for free here. WHY Video Library, WHY Virtual and WHY Core Members will be sent links and passwords to access the full library of recorded classes.

+ I'm a WHY Library / Virtual / Core Member. How do I access the full library?

Our full library is available to eligible members via password protected Showcases - here. Passwords are emailed monthly with your subscription receipt or call the studio to have one sent to you via email.

+ Can I access the full WHY Library using a Vimeo App?

Not directly. You need to use a web browser to access password protected content. However, when using the web browser, you can mark any of our videos to Watch Later - then using the Vimeo App, you can access these under your personal library.

WHY in the Parks

+ What is the cost?

WHY in the Parks classes are free, but donations are welcome. We thank you for your support!

+ Are bathrooms available?

Visit the West Hartford Town of Leisure Services for more information on specific park amenities.

+ Is there parking?

All of our WHY in the Parks classes have sufficient parking.

+ Do I need to pre-register?

Pre-registration is strongly recommended via our website or the MINDBODY app. Please pre-register for email cancellation alerts and to enter our weekly raffle.

+ What is the policy for inclement weather?

WHY in the Parks is cancelled in event of rain or wet grounds. Please pre-register for email cancellation alerts. For current weather-related updates, visit our schedule page. For additional questions, email us.

+ How close are the mats?

Our WHY Outdoors locations have plenty of room to spread out as much as you need to feel comfortable.

+ Will I be able to hear the instructor?

All of our WHY Outdoors classes make use of battery powered sound systems and headset mics. If you have trouble hearing, please set up closer to the instructor / speaker.
