Saturday, May 16: 1:00 - 5:00 pm

Expand your practice and your teaching by deepening your knowledge and understanding of the history and context of yoga.  We will honor yoga's roots by studying the written works, commentary and teachings of South Asian, Black, Brown and Indigenous Yogis, teachers, researchers, authors, activists and leaders.  We will then bring the ancient teachings into contemporary context to see just how relevant and powerful an agent of change this practice remains today.

Participants can expect:

  • Exploration of the foundational texts of Yoga, including the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali and the Bhagavad Gita

  • Asana practice

  • Large and small group discussion

  • Journaling

  • Profound connection with ancient and modern texts in community
